Nations have started to announce their teams for the Invictus Games Sydney 2018, presented by Jaguar Land Rover.
Denmark, New Zealand and the USA are among the first to reveal the competitors who will make the trip ‘Down Under’.
The United States Defense Department has announced it will send 72 competitors to Sydney for the Games while Denmark and New Zealand have revealed a 25-strong team respectively.
“Participation in the 2018 Invictus Games helps to shine a light on the amazing power and positivity of adaptive sports and reconditioning activities for our wounded warriors, who continue to inspire us with their strength, resilience and personal courage every day,” said Stephanie Barna, performing the duties of United States undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness.
“These brave service members and veterans demonstrate what it means to be professional, dedicated, and determined. We are proud to honor and recognise their remarkable achievements and support them as they continue their personal journeys of recovery and healing,” she said.
The Invictus Games Sydney 2018 will welcome 500 competitors from 18 nations who will compete in 11 adaptive sports between 20-27 October. The events will be staged across Greater Sydney, including at Sydney Olympic Park and on and around Sydney Harbour, with the Opening Ceremony to be held at the Sydney Opera House.
