The Future of Amputee Rehabilitation – Healing Through Innovation

The Invictus Games Sydney 2018 presented by Jaguar Land Rover is more than an international sporting event, for service men and women who are currently serving or retired. In addition to the sporting competition there is an extensive education and legacy program for competitors, family and friends, and other associated parties.

World renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon, Associate Professor Munjed Al Muderis together with the team at Osseointegration Group of Australia will speak about the latest medical developments in amputee care and rehabilitation on the final day of Invictus Games Sydney 2018, on Saturday 27 October, at Sydney Olympic Park. Fusilier Shaun Stocker of Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, the Royal Welsh Regiment and author, will also share his personal journey.

There is no doubt that the loss of a limb represents a devastating event that changes a person’s life considerably and permanently. This information session aims to provide amputees, their families and any other interested parties with an overview of an alternative reconstruction approach known as osseointegration, together with other medical and rehabilitation developments.

Attendees, at this free event, will meet the surgeon and allied health professionals pioneering this field, that will provide information to amputees looking for alternative solutions to socket mounted prosthesis and are looking to regain comfort and mobility.  The team at Osseointegration Group of Australia, led by Associate Professor Munjed Al Muderis will be available to answer all of your questions regarding amputee care and they will take you through recent developments in this area and the various medical options available to amputees.
